This is a vintage Peruvian tapestry, folk art embroidery.
Key features of the tapestry include:
Origin: It is from Peru, a region with a long history of tapestry making.
Material: It is likely made of llama/ alpaca wool or cotton.
Design: The tapestry depicts scenes of rural life, possibly a marriage ( Matrimonio ) theme, with people, animals, and dwellings [the image].
Technique: It uses embroidery techniques, creating a textured and detailed image.
Function: It is designed as a wall hanging, suitable for decorative purposes.
Dimensions: 21.5” W x 38.5”L x 1/4” Thick
Condition: Great Vintage Condition! Looks like someone purchased it as a souvenir but never used it. The edges are pulled just a tad like where it was connected to a loom which is normal. ( It looks discolored towards the bottom but it’s just shadows. Sorry, I’m not a photographer).
